What we like to say is that in an emergency everybody is going to do something. They are going to make a decision. This very well may be the wrong decision. In absence of direction and information, people are going to do what they think is best. An example that comes to mind is a substitute teacher during an active shooter attack at a school, pulls the fire alarm to evacuate the students. But what response does a fire alarm provoke? The immediate thought that this is a drill and a slow evacuation into the hallway commences leaving students vulnerable. In absence of direction on what to do, that employee made a decision based on what they thought was best. These decisions can have drastic consequences.
This is a question we get asked very often. This is a tough one for us because most of our instructors are entrenched in law enforcement in this State. However, the reason this company was created was to fill a need for many companies out there who either do not have quality resources available to them or companies that want consistency across jurisdictional boundaries. Another point I bring up is law enforcement officers by nature want to help. They always feel they need to have the answers and the public often assumes a police officer's advice and information is based on sound best practices. However, this is not always the case. I caution companies that they need to make sure the information and training being provided to their employees is the best, not simply the cheapest, available. I would find out the experience and credentials of any trainer you bring into your organization, including a police officer.
If you are a company that is confined to a municipality and feel you are getting a high quality product out of your law enforcement agency, then there may be no need to look elsewhere. However, a common problem for large companies with locations spread over large geographic areas is a consistent message. Often times a municipal police department will conduct trainings for businesses located within their jurisdiction, but they do not have the resources to travel throughout the area to all of your locations.
We are not quesitoning the quality of law enforcement officers in this State, what we provide is an option for companies to have access to the highest quality trainers who can provide a consistent message to your employees, no matter where they are located.
We would be more than willing to meeting with you and discuss any training needs you may have or want. However, we also are strong believers in knowing your limitations. Our trainings and consultants are not experts in all things. We will never take on a project just to "wing it". With that being said, if you are having this question, reach out to us today and we can discuss how we may be able to assist you. We commonly take on custom training projects in many different safety or security fields. And if we do not feel comfortable providing this service, we probably know someone who could.
This is a common question we have and the answer is it depends on the topic. Many topics should be trained or offered annually to ensure the message is reinforced and to help train new employees. Some topics may be able to be trained less frequently. Contact us today to speak about this!
The simple answer is no, however we understand the need for companies to offer online trainings. If every training topic was a live in person training then productivity would plummet. What we recommend is you try to offer some trainings live every year as a live in person training allows employees to interact with instructors and get the most current informaiton available.
We are currently working on some E-Learning products to launch in the near future!
All of our trainings are delivered with the audience in mind. We strive to take a look at each location and industry to provide the best advice possible.
